Kolhapuri Saaj is an old traditional jewellery from the western ghats of Maharashtra. The kolhapuri Saaj is often associated with sacred symbolism. It includes Moon, Conch, Chakra, Snake, Tortoise etc. Medals of auspicious signs are attached to both sides of the garland. In the center is a large medallion with a red gem in the center.
This type of jewelry is about 60 years old. Kolhapuri Saaj consists of javmani and panadya (leaves of different sizes) interwoven with gold thread.
